To: Fundamental Data Services subscribers
As we informed you at the beginning of April regarding the upcoming Fundamental Equity Data upgrade, Morningstar, one of our primary providers of fundamental equity data, is currently undergoing a comprehensive overhaul of its data feed, which includes extensive changes to field names, feed structure, and updates to the methodology used for calculating certain fields. These changes will affect fundamental data for the majority of stocks.
Our team continues to work diligently to process these updates internally and to keep the data format you receive from us unchanged wherever possible. Minimizing any impact on your side is our top priority. Nonetheless, some adjustments on your end will eventually be necessary, and we will keep you informed and provide ample support.
With this announcement, we would like to share recent updates about this work.
Details
We have completed the analysis of the changes and updated our data importers so that they ingest data from Morningstar in the new format. We have also performed a huge work of transforming this data into the format you are currently using. We are now in the testing phase, comparing the resulting data in the new format vs the old format to ensure that the data stays as close to what you are used to as possible.
Despite the scale of changes on Morningstar’s side, we are glad to say that the number of changes that clients will encounter after our transformation is insignificant. Mostly, they are either the fields completely retired by Morningstar, or additions and improvements.
Over the past three months, we have added some new changes to our dedicated page. Please review these additions and make adjustments on your end if necessary.
Here is a short overview of the new changes added since the previous announcement. Please refer to our dedicated page for more details:
- We have finished analyzing methodological updates and their effect on dxFeed fields. Please review the file attached in the “Changes in methodology” section. Due to methodological changes, affected fields will be populated with different values. Historical values for listed instruments will also be recalculated for consistency.
- Corporate Actions: Two new types of corporate actions are being added: Rights Issues and Capital Repayment. Also, we are adding a new extension field: taxRate.
- Earning Report: Two fields are retired: normalizedBasicEPS and normalizedDilutedEPS.
- Earning Ratio and Operation Ratio: We have found a way to populate fiscalYearEndMonth on our side, so there will be no changes in this field for you. Previously, we announced that Morningstar had retired this field, and it will be empty from now on.
- Instrument Reference: Multiple changes, please check the web page.
During our testing phase, we expect to identify additional changes relevant to you and post them on our dedicated page. Please check for updates from time to time. Additionally, we will periodically inform you about these updates via email.
Effective date
This upgrade will take place on the last days of August 2026. We will announce the particular date later. Please be sure to update your systems accordingly.
